The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) created the VA Telehealth Tablet Program to improve healthcare access for Veterans who face barriers such as distance, disability, or limited transportation.

This initiative is not a public giveaway. Tablets are loaned to qualifying Veterans specifically for telehealth appointments and remote monitoring.
What Is the VA Telehealth Tablet Program?
The program is part of the VA’s broader telehealth services. It combines secure video appointments, remote patient monitoring, and digital health tools.
What You Receive: Eligible Veterans who do not have a suitable device or reliable internet access may receive a VA-loaned, internet-enabled tablet. These tablets come preloaded with VA-approved applications, including VA Video Connect.
How the Program Works
Veterans enrolled in VA healthcare can speak with their provider about telehealth options to initiate a Digital Divide Consult.
Consultation
Speak with your VA provider. If telehealth is necessary and you lack technology, they may initiate a Digital Divide Consult.
Approval & Setup
If approved, the VA ships a configured tablet to you. Cellular connectivity is included when required for internet access.
Remote Care
Veterans can then attend appointments, communicate with care teams, and manage certain aspects of their health remotely using the loaned device.
Who Qualifies?
To be considered for a veterans affair telehealth tablet, Veterans generally must meet specific criteria.
Approval is determined case by case. Not all Veterans automatically qualify.
